Founding PTI member killed
HOSPITAL owner and founding member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Dr Shahid Siddique was gunned down near a mosque in Lahore, ARY News reported on Friday.
According to sources, some unidentified men arrived in a vehicle and shot Dr Siddique outside Khizra Mosque after Friday prayers in Valencia Town. According to a police spokesman the assailants managed to flee the scene after shooting the PTI leader.
Officials said that at the time of the shooting, Dr Siddique’s son and driver were with him; they remained safe, however. Dr Siddique suffered four bullet wounds and died while being transported to the nearest hospital. The police have collected pieces of evidence from the scene and are investigating the incident.
According to the police spokesperson, IG Punjab has issued orders for the immediate arrest of the attackers. The slain PTI leader had residences both in Johar Town and Valencia Town.
