Houthis preparing for long war with Israel: spokesman

IN a televised statement, spokesman for Houthis Yehya Saree has announced that the Yemeni group is “preparing for a long war with Israel”.

This statement comes after an Israeli air strike hit and destroyed the Yemeni port of Hodeidah and left at least six dead, three missing and 83 injured, CNN reported on Sunday. The Israeli attack was in response to the hundreds of Houthi attacks against Israel since the beginning of the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

Israel’s military said it had targeted and successfully destroyed military targets in the vicinity of Hodeidah port. Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Israeli television that Hodeidah was ‘not an innocent port’ and alleged that it was the gateway through which Iran supplies the Houthis millions of dollars in sophisticated military weaponry.

The same port has been used by the Houthis to target international ships crossing the Red Sea since October 7.

A military spokesperson for the Iran-backed movement said the Houthis will not hesitate to attack ‘vital targets’ in Israel.
