Imran Khan admits calling for protests outside GHQ: report
Founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has admitted that before his detention he had called for a protest outside the army headquarters in Rawalpindi, according to Geo News.
Speaking to reporters during hearing of a case at Adiala jail, the former prime minister: “Before my arrest, I had called for a peaceful protest to be held outside the General Headquarters (GHQ).
He pointed out that on March 14, 2023 police and Rangers personnel had stormed his house in the Zaman Park neighbourhood of Lahore. “Later on March 18, the law enforcement officers broke into my house with force once more.” That same day, the Judicial Complex in Islamabad saw intense shelling.
The cricketer-turned-politician also brought up an incident from last year in which there were violent altercations between his followers and security personnel prior to his appearance before Additional Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal’s court. He alleged that he was either going to be arrested or assassinated by the authorities inside the Judicial Complex.
He said he knew he would be taken into custody and that before being taken into custody, he had called for a nonviolent demonstration in front of the army headquarters.
