WHILE most Pakistanis are set to celebrate Eidul Fitr on Monday, in accordance with the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee’s announcement, people in several areas marked the occasion a day earlier, on Sunday. Among such people were those residing in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Karachi, where they gathered for Eid prayers and other festivities.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Eid prayers were offered in Bara, Bajaur, and at the refugee camp on Charsadda Road. Similar congregations took place in Khyber, Mohmand, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, and the province’s southern districts, where people observed the festival with religious enthusiasm.
Afghan refugees and residents of the merged tribal districts also joined the celebrations at various locations, including Tajabad, Nasir Bagh, Board, Safed Dheri, and Khurasan Camp. Special prayers were offered for peace and prosperity in Pakistan and the wider Muslim world.
In Bajaur, a large number of worshippers attended Eid prayers at mosques across the district, with heightened security measures in place at mosques and Eidgahs. In Nowshera’s Jalozai Camp, Afghan refugees gathered at designated sites to offer prayers and partake in traditional Eid festivities.
Meanwhile, in Karachi, the Bohra community observed Eidul Fitr on Sunday. A significant gathering attended Eid prayers at the Bohra Jamaat Khana in Saddar, where special prayers were held for national peace and stability. Security in the area was tightened, with roads leading to the Jamaat Khana blocked by barriers, and police and Rangers personnel deployed to ensure public safety.
